Samsung Galaxy S5 – Review, Design, Display, Camera & Specification

The Korean giant, Samsung, is winning the Indian market with all the series doing equally well. With every year, there are rumors about the release of new phones. Continuing with its Galaxy S series, the new one in the series is the Samsung Galaxy S5. It is a new flagship from Samsung which has a 12MP dual primary camera and 8 GB RAM.

Design and Display

Samsung Galaxy S5 is a successor to the Galaxy S7 with major improvements making it one of the most powerful and stylish smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy S5 will have a metallic body and a screen size of 5.5 inches. It flaunts a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with screen resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels. It has a 4k or Ultra High-Definition screen with a massive pixel density of 801 ppi. We think it’s the biggest pixel density in any smartphone yet. Higher pixel density means sharper and clearer images. Galaxy S7 had a lesser pixel density of 576 ppi. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass v4.

In design, Samsung Galaxy 8 is similar to all flagship phones of Samsung. Below the display, lies the physical home button with two capacitive buttons one either side. The back key, like all Samsung phones, lies on the right side of the home button. This home button also acts as a fingerprint scanner. Above the display is the 8 MP front camera, with notification LED and few sensors.  The right side of the phone has the usual power button whereas the left side of the phone has the volume keys and SIM and SD card tray. At the bottom is the USB type C port, which supports fast charging. The 3.5mm jack lies at the top of the device.

Flipping the phone, the back cover of the device is not- removable and so is the 4,000mAH battery below it. There are 12 MP + 12 MP Dual Primary Cameras at the back with LED flash next to it. This LED flash also acts as the heart rate monitor which can be accessed via the Samsung S health app.

Performance:

Samsung Galaxy 8 is a power packed phone with 8 GB of RAM. It is the highest RAM available in any smartphone. It also uses the fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 MSM8998 chipset. The processor runs on a 2.4 Ghz Quad core processor. For gaming, it uses an Adreno 540 processor. This phone is a total beast and won’t disappoint you at all.

Software:

Samsung Galaxy 8 runs on the latest Android Nougat (Android 7.0). Like other Samsung models, this phone also has its UI layer on top called TOUCHWIZ. There is a theme store, which allows you to change the themes of the phone. You can even disable some of the preinstalled apps. It comes with S health which is used to check heart rate, SpO2, and stress levels.

Camera:

Like all Samsung Flagships, it has a superb camera, which doesn’t disappoint you at all. For the main camera, it uses a 12MP +12MP Dual Primary Camera which is the best in the market. It has phase detection autofocus and optical image stabilization for taking sharp and clear pictures. It also comes with DUAL colour LED Flash and has the image resolution of 4000 x 3000 Pixels. There are usual setting modes like Panorama, burst shooting, HDR, Auto HDR, and face detection. The camera UI is nice and clean. It records videos up to 3840×2160 @ 30 fps, 1920×1080 @ 60 fps, 1280×720 @ 120 fps and supports HDR, dual-video rec.

For selfie lovers, there is an 8 MP front camera which is powerful.

Storage:

Samsung Galaxy 8 comes with a huge internal storage of 64 GB. It is also expandable up to a massive 2 TB. The card slot lies on the left side of the device.

Battery:

Samsung Galaxy 8 is a powerful device even regarding battery. It comes with a big battery of 4000mAH. It supports quick charging and uses a USB TYPE C port. It also supports wireless charging introduced in Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S6. The battery is non-removable.

Connectivity:

Samsung Galaxy 8 is a single SIM Phone which supports 4G VOLTE. It also supports 3G, 2G. It uses Bluetooth version 4.2 and has other usual connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS. This device also features NFC. It also has a heart rate monitor along with other regular sensors like light, proximity, accelerometer, etc.
